D800 and helicon remote4/28/2023 ![]() I'm interested in whether it does anything I genuinely can't do any other way, such as focus stacking without touching the camera. I'm not bothered about stacking in the field and writing back to the memory card, so I can get away with using a regular intervalometer for most purposes. Sony had the most important function of this as software $5 (Smooth Reflections) and this is just a glorified $20 remote. It is way way overpriced - even on Kickstarter. I looked at this in detail but can't get my head around the price. ![]() Too bad they can't have an Android release first, and the true functionality will determine how long I keep the Rii. That’s disappointing, I ordered mine in November, On the Arsenal blog a 3 month delay was announced=April at the earliest. Both bodies do a lot of processing are likely using up existing resources. It only works well combined with the remote camera app, and that is not supported by Sony any more on new cameras.īest guess is that the PM app on the a7rIII consumes more resources than available therefore Sony stopped supporting the app with the III and a9. The problem is that the PlayMemories remote app on phones and tablets is stripped down to bare bones when used directly with the A9 or A7R3. Looks like there is an Arsenal copy/semi-copy. I don't understand why Sony would take a backwards step and not make the apps available. If they don't, then this may be the only solution on the R3. I'm just going to keep my A7R2 for time-lapse work until Sony makes the apps available for the R3. I use the Sony built in remote often and it works fine. Maybe I'm missing something, but have you used the Sony Playmemories remote app? It is way better than it used to be, and I've had some good success with it. What other solutions are there for simple tethered/wireless control of my A7RIII? No need to image transfer for me. I assume this will do this, though with many un necessary features (who needs the AI assistance?) for me and an extra electronics box connected to the camera. It is difficult enough to produce 10.000 pieces of the first version.Īll I want is a really really good, but SIMPLE wireless or USB tethered control solution of my A7RIII that controls everything, shows a live view, and keeps the RAW images on the camera and can use my Android tablet. My point was to do not steal(!) the time of the designers. ![]() In that case the product should be extended with a thief alarm too. Jan, umbrella implies standing there holding the umbrella eh? On a long timelapse maybe the photographer would like to take a break and go have a coffee or snack. I had found examples of L shaped micro USB cords and hoped they would offer these with the a7rIII. With an L plate, a straight connection may not offer enough clearance for shooting in vertical orientation (such as for panoramas). I noted the cables are straight rather than L shaped at the point of connection to the camera. It would be great to show a suggested stop on the app as one rotates a camera in verical/portrait orientation to hit ideal points for perfect overlaps to create a panorama.Ģ. The spacing for these are based on the focal length of the lens used and size of sensor. I emailed the Developer with two suggestions and not sure if anyone who backed would like to add these as comments on the original campaign where he may be more active:ġ. I missed out on the Kickstarter and thinking of pre-ordering. So I haven’t followed the Arsenal news over the last couple of months - is it confirmed that it will support image averaging ala smooth reflections?Ī while back I asked the developer and his response was yes. If this device is a success, there can/will be numerous upgrades (HW and/or SW).īut let them finish the first version first, without interfering them with private wishes. Someone watching this product may be salivating at ebaying a more weatherproof case for it. Put it in a tight little box and mount it wherever the short cable allows, or add another cable.
